Munich Creative Business Week
Fabric, Form, and Avant-Garde Expression at BMW Welt
At Munich Creative Business Week, the iconic Doppelkegel event space inside BMW Welt became the stage for a living installation where fashion, textile art, and performance converged within one of Munich’s most architecturally striking settings. Known as Germany’s largest design event, the week brings together designers, artists, and creative institutions to present new ideas across disciplines, offering a platform where experimentation and craftsmanship meet contemporary culture.
Within this setting, the showcased installation transformed fabric into sculpture and movement into narrative. Conceived as a live textile art presentation rather than a traditional runway show, the project explored the relationship between material, body, and space. The presentation featured avant-garde silhouettes by Maison Octavian, whose work is known for its organic, sculptural forms, often defined by dark tonalities, hand-crafted textures, and a conceptual approach that challenges the conventions of commercial fashion.
The project was realized with the support of the Deutsche Meisterschule für Mode (Design Schule München), one of Munich’s most respected institutions for fashion education, whose involvement emphasized the dialogue between academic craftsmanship and contemporary design practice. Through this collaboration, the installation became not only a visual experience but also a reflection on the future of fashion as an artistic discipline.
Show production and spatial concept were created by Adelinde Knorr Showdesign, whose work shaped the performance into a carefully choreographed interaction of light, textile, and architecture. The monumental geometry of the BMW Welt Doppelkegel provided a dramatic backdrop, allowing the garments to appear almost suspended between industrial precision and organic motion.
The event was documented behind the scenes by photographer Gerhard Knorr, capturing the raw, process-driven moments that define experimental fashion, while the atmosphere of the live presentation was recorded by LEROT, whose event photography reflects the intensity and stillness of the installation alike.
Presented in collaboration with Munich Creative Business Week, the showcase stood as a statement on the evolving language of avant-garde fashion — where clothing becomes object, performance becomes installation, and design becomes a form of cultural dialogue.
