Conceptual Fashion Work in Local Newspaper SZ – The Human as Nature’s Force – Carina Diesing
“The Human as Nature’s Force” (Der Mensch als Naturgewalt) is the title of a conceptual fashion work by young German designer Carina Diesing, whose socially critical designs have recently gained attention in the South German press, including coverage in Süddeutsche Zeitung and interviews with München.tv.
Diesing, who has been active as an actress since the age of nine, only recently entered the field of fashion design as part of her final examination project at the Deutsche Meisterschule für Mode München (Design School Munich). Her graduate collection, presented at the school’s annual fashion show, stood out for its strong conceptual background and its clear focus on social commentary.
Before the show, the school organized a designer lookbook photo shoot, where model and artist Mokka Spectrum was invited to participate and briefly met Diesing. During the final presentation, Diesing’s collection attracted particular attention, leading to further conversations about the ideas behind her work and the message of the collection.
After discussing the conceptual and social themes in more depth, a collaboration was proposed following Diesing’s graduation. Despite the uncertainty at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the project moved forward shortly afterward. A photo shoot was organized together with star photographer and visual artist Jan Siebert, joined by professional makeup artist Sarah Buchenberger, a longtime collaborator of Diesing.
The result was more than a fashion shoot — it became a visual statement reflecting the tense and uncertain atmosphere of the time. The imagery combined fashion, performance, and social commentary, capturing the mood of a period marked by global crisis and change.
The series was later published internationally in IMIRAGE Magazine (Australia) and The Mob Journal (New York).
On January 20, Diesing was also featured in one of Germany’s leading newspapers, highlighting her work as an artist and emerging designer. Shortly afterward, she appeared in an interview on München.tv, where she spoke about her intention to use fashion as a medium to address social and political issues and to create awareness beyond national borders.
The video interview was released by München TV and remained available in the broadcaster’s media library for a period of one month.
With her combination of acting experience, conceptual design, and socially engaged themes, Carina Diesing represents a new generation of artists who use fashion not only as clothing, but as a platform for expression, dialogue, and social reflection.
